PATCHOULI DEEP UPDATES OCT 2024

Official Launch of Patchouli Deep Radio

After a year of soft opening, Patchouli Deep Radio is preparing for its official launch. While many may not have realized this, the full launch could happen sooner than expected, possibly before summer. This will bring a fresh wave of energy and opportunities, aligning with our vision for the future.

Elysium Program Improvements

  • Exclusive Access to Tracks: The Elysium section of the website has been significantly improved. Now, all Patchouli Deep original tracks are available exclusively for Elysium supporters. These tracks are downloadable, and we encourage members to incorporate them into their DJ sets.

  • TrackVault Evolution: We’ve also launched a new TrackVault, which we plan to rebrand with a more global name like GlobalTrackVault. This vault is a curated collection of tracks from internal and external artists, including unsigned, signed, or unreleased music. Tracks are carefully filtered to ensure they fit the Patchouli Deep ethos. They will be accessible exclusively to Elysium members for up to three months, after which they will be rotated out to keep the vault fresh.

  • Daily Radio Feature: Tracks from the vault will also be featured in a daily one-hour radio show called TRACKS on Patchouli Deep Radio, giving them international exposure to our community of DJs and producers. This is a valuable opportunity to promote fresh music in an authentic way.

  • Enhanced Transparency: We’re also working on creating more transparency within Elysium by developing a list or program that outlines key processes and member benefits. To further enhance transparency, we’ll be using a dedicated Discord channel exclusively for Elysium members, allowing them to engage in decision-making discussions, give feedback, and collaborate.

Rising Costs and Financial Focus

As we’ve completed our first full year, we’ve faced rising operational costs, with expenses now almost double those of last year. These include increased music license fees, platform maintenance, and website management costs. While we have been able to cover these costs so far, managing finances will continue to be a focus moving forward to ensure the sustainability of the project.

We encourage everyone to support Patchouli Deep’s growth by bringing in fellow producers and artists to join the family. More members and support will provide the fuel necessary to keep this long-term project growing.

TrackVault/GlobalTrackVault

The TrackVault offers artists the opportunity to promote their music by submitting tracks, which are then selected and uploaded to the vault. Every track stays in the vault for a maximum of three months to ensure the content stays fresh. Our community is primarily made up of DJs and producers who play at radio shows, events, festivals, and more, so this is a highly targeted and valuable form of promotion for artists.

Website and Radio Updates

We’ve made important updates to the website to improve user experience. This includes upgrades to the homepage and, most importantly, a new dedicated radio page at patchoulideep.com/radio. This page now includes the full radio schedule, along with information on how to get involved—whether as a guest DJ, a regular host, or even as a listener looking to support the station. This makes it easier for our community to connect with our 24/7 radio platform.

New Focus for Open Decks

We’re shifting the focus of Open Decks to spotlight producers. We’re currently partnering with various people to expand these events and provide more opportunities for producers to showcase their talent. Open Decks will now include not only live performances but also potential podcast recordings and interviews, making the experience richer and more diverse.

Empowering Artists through Web3

Our broader vision for Patchouli Deep is to empower artists through a fully integrated platform. We’re working towards a future where artists who are part of Patchouli Deep—through the label, radio, media streams, and other channels—will benefit from visibility and support. One of our long-term goals is to create a support system that distributes royalties to our artists. While this is still in development, and we understand it may sound utopian, we believe that with the help of Web3 technologies, including tokenization and NFTs, this vision can become a reality. We are confident that we are moving in the right direction to make this happen and are committed to continuing to support this project as it evolves.

Monthly Discord Briefings

To keep everyone updated on our developments, we plan to host regular briefings or conferences on Discord, likely on a monthly or bi-monthly basis. This will give us the chance to share updates, answer questions, and discuss new ideas with our community, friends, and collaborators.
